Where to use muons

ISMS

The International Society for µSR Spectroscopy (ISMS) was formed to promote the worldwide advancement of muon spin rotation, relaxation and resonance (µSR).

In Europe

Muons for solid-state research are only available at two sites in Europe – the Paul Scherrer Institute (Swiss muon source SμS) and the ISIS Pulsed Neutron and Muon Source near Oxford in England.

Worldwide

TRIUMF is Canada’s national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics located on the University of British Columbia campus in Vancouver, British Columbia. TRIUMF houses the world's largest superconducting cyclotron, a particularly “luminous” source of 500 MeV protons, which are used to produce muons for muSR studies.

In Japan, the Japanese Proton Accelerator Complex is a group of accelerators used for a variety of studies but including producing muons for investigations of materials.
